Tour de Tesla is now going to kick it in to high gear this week with marketing and announcements of more surprises. Two weeks remain! Full disclosure, I’m just a fan-boy receiving no remuneration but just longing for a ‘top-shelf’ Tesla Rally experience like we had in years gone by. So I approached Tesla with this idea to rekindle the Tesla Run; they loved the idea but had no man-power to devote to it. So I approached my friend, Elie who was an exhibitor at Teslive. I know that he’s done these events for other car manufacturers & most recently Italian Stampede with a 3-mile long police motorcade escorted processional that traveled 8/15/13 all the way from Chatsworth to Monterey for Concours d’Elegance! Elie said yes & Tesla said yes. They are still in final negotiations as to nailing down destination logistics, swag, and lunch, but here’s what we do know:
- Sunday, September 8, 2013 @ around 9:30 AM
- Starts at the Hawthorne SuperCharger Station / Tesla Design Center / SpaceX
- Tesla Motors is hosting continental breakfast & a few keynote speeches
- Tesla Motors & Tour de Tesla to provide ‘swag bags’
- Police Motorcade escorted rally will drive around 30 miles away to a gorgeous sit-down lunch destination
- Open to anyone driving any Tesla (already signed up are some from NorCal & some from out of state)
- More surprises yet to be announced
If you’ve never been on a car rally & you have a Tesla, you NEED to go once and you’ll be hooked! I’m not saying this rally, I mean any Tesla rally!
Now, if you’ve been on a FREE Tesla rally (this one is $75) and you left in groups of a dozen or so cars with walkie-talkies for some but not all and you got lost and non-Tesla cars were getting in between you & red-lights & stop-signs meant stop & you’ve never been on a police motorcade escorted rally, then you MUST go on this one and you will be hooked! That’s where much of the money is going! Membership has its privileges!
